Phoenix: The Open Design Alliance (ODA) has announced that The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC) will present at the ODA World Conference on their experience integrating the ODA platform as the core of the new ITC IntelliCAD® 7, which was recently released in beta production to ITC members. At the conference, David Lorenzo, Development Director of the ITC, will present “IntelliCAD: An Open Source CAD Engine and Vertical Solutions Platform.”
Both the ODA and the ITC are independent, non-profit organizations that deliver core technology and source code to members of their organizations. In this relationship the ODA delivers the ODA platform to members, such as the ITC, enabling them to build applications for the technical graphics market.
The ITC integrates the ODA technology into its IntelliCAD product, a DWG-compatible CAD platform used by dozens of companies to deliver products to engineers, designers and architects. The new architecture of IntelliCAD 7 is designed to take full advantage of the power and programming strength of the ODA platform. Of all ODA members, only a few are taking full advantage of the ODA platform to develop and deliver complete CAD applications.
Arnold van der Weide, President of the ODA, stated, “The ODA has built strong relationships with its members, especially those that are using the ODA platform to its full extent. As a core technology provider, the ODA lacks a direct connection with end users so we cooperate with our members to get a better understanding of end user needs and requirements. We cannot afford to become an academic organization. The ITC’s commitment to high-quality technologies has helped the ODA platform advance through the ITC’s continuous commitment to source code compatibility and a close cooperation between development and management teams.”
Robert McGill, President of the ITC, stated, “The decision to integrate the full ODA platform into IntelliCAD 7 was very strategic for the ITC and was only possible because of our close working relationship with the ODA and its development team. The ODA is not sitting on its laurels and is aggressively pushing the ODA platform technology forward. We will continue to rely on the ODA platform as a major contributor to the success of IntelliCAD for years to come.”
Mr. van der Weide added, “The release of IntelliCAD 7 Beta is a success for the ITC and for the ODA and the ODA platform. We look forward to the continued cooperation with the ITC as they complete the IntelliCAD 7 product, and beyond.”
