BEIJING - Dassault Systèmes has announced that Dong Fang Boiler Group CO., LTD. (DBC), one of the largest power station boiler suppliers in China, has selected its ENOVIA V6 solution to build the first collaborative data management platform in China’s power station boiler industry. The solution will enable DBC to perform collaborative data management throughout its product processes, from design and construction to customer services and improve its overall design and production efficiency.
A subsidiary of Dong Fang Electric Corporation, one of the top three electric groups in China, DBC is providing one of the most complete product portfolios of large-capacity power station boilers in the world. The company’s products have been sold in 27 provinces in China, as well as more than 10 countries, including India and Brazil. As DBC continues to expand its global footprint a crucial element for its long term success will be the implementation of a collaborative platform capable of ensuring a rapid response to different demands from local and international markets.
By leveraging Dassault Systèmes ENOVIA V6 to effectively manage design drawings, components and product data, DBC expects to significantly improve the accuracy of product design. It will also be able to manage reuse of design data to shorten project cycles and improve collaborative efficiency. ENOVIA V6 will help DBC to establish a unified information sharing platform for all of the departments involved to perform multi-project management and achieve modularized, standardized and serialized design. Furthermore, the software’s open architecture will enable DBC to integrate with its existing SAP ERP system to ensure data consistency. Aware of the power of an evolved product lifecycle management, or PLM 2.0 strategy, DBC is planning to extend the functionality of Dassault Systemes’ PLM platform to its customers and suppliers in order to enhance the management of customer demand, procurement and after-sales.
“Boiler design involves a huge number of drawings - potentially hundreds of thousands each month. The lack of a unified management and overall version control for all of the 2D and 3D models can significantly affect design quality and progress,” said Hu Xiukui, deputy general manager, DBC. “With the deployment of ENOVIA V6, our CAD designers will be able to collaborate online and in real time with the company’s other key functions, including engineering and manufacturing, as well as our key suppliers.”
Zhao Heng, vice president, Greater China, Dassault Systèmes said, “DBC is not only a world-leading power station boiler manufacturer, but also China’s first boiler company that has committed to deploy a data management strategy enabled by ENOVIA V6. We will fully support DBC in its efforts to build its PLM infrastructure as it becomes a first-class innovative power equipment manufacturer in China and around the world.”
