Seoul, South Korea: INUS Technology has announced the new release of Inspectworks 2.0, offering verification tools for the SolidWorks user. InspectWorks 2.0 is a major upgrade to the company’s SolidWorks plug-in based on Rapidform XOV. Design engineers use InspectWorks along with a 3D scanner to quickly investigate and verify that parts are manufactured to specification from SolidWorks.
Within minutes, anyone with SolidWorks and the InspectWorks Add-in can open a part file and a 3D scan of the object, and see where the part is in or out of tolerance via a deviation color map. If there are dimensions or tolerances defined for the part, InspectWorks also provides measurements and pass/fail results automatically. InspectWorks 2.0 now includes multi-core processor support on the current Windows operating systems (32 and 64 bit on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7). Enhancements to InspectWorks 2.0 include:
•Intelligent Best-fit where, rather than simply fitting the whole point cloud to the CAD model, the unique geometric features (e.g., plane, cylinder, etc.) are detected and used to perform alignment. This new technology succeeds where other metrology products fail with difficult alignments. For example, InspectWorks distinguishes small features like a small timing mark on a revolving part like a camshaft gear or blisk, and succeeds at finding a unique alignment solution.
• New GD&T measurements have been added to Inspectworks 2.0, including;
- Straightness
- Circularity
- Line profile
- Surface Profile
- Runout
• Report Editor, enabling the user to define information about the current inspection project, such as part name, part number, serial number, color of pass / fail, etc. Each parameter is reported in a format compliant with the enterprise’s standards.
InspectWorks 2.0 will be available in April from INUS Technology and its worldwide distributor network.
