MSC.Software announces 3rd Edition of the Virtual Test and Engineering Simulation Aerospace & Defense Conference

To be hosted by Italian Air Force Academy in Naples on May 6th and 7th 2010.

SANTA ANA, CA - MSC.Software, a provider of simulation software and services, has announced the third Edition of the "Virtual Test and Engineering Simulation in Aerospace & Defense Conference -- Virtual Validation for Real Innovation." The conference will be hosted by the prestigious Italian Air Force Academy in Naples on May 6th and 7th 2010.

This year Alenia Aeronautica, a Finmeccanica company, will give a substantial contribution to the initiative. Simulation represents a fundamental aspect of the processes leading to product development and innovation, and therefore to the company's growth. The company is the largest Italian aeronautic company and operates world-wide in the design, development, maintenance and production of commercial and military aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles and aerostructures, as well as playing an important role in the simulation activities.

Virtual Test and Engineering Simulation is considered a major business driver for product development organizations looking to accelerate innovation, improve quality, and expand the landscape of the "Virtual Extended Enterprise" throughout engineering groups and supplier partners. The results achieved are improved enterprise business processes and methods.

The first day of the two-day event will be dedicated to executive level panels and key notes from leading worldwide aerospace companies together with aviation and scientific institutions. Companies will present case studies that highlight the impact of Virtual Test on their business and their future technology direction. The second day will host technical sessions dedicated to key topics including enterprise simulation in PLM, system level simulation and optimization, multi-discipline/multi-physics, simulation-physical test integration and new materials and composites simulation techniques.

Most of the sessions will be held in the Academy training rooms and laboratories where technologies used by Air Force can be experienced including engines, avionics, instruments, navigation tools, simulators, and vehicle mock-ups.

"The conference in all previous years has demonstrated outstanding participation and excellent cases studies presented by leading industry players in the Aerospace and Defense Industry," said Dominic Gallello, President & CEO of MSC.Software. "We are proud to partner with Alenia Aeronautica in gathering the thought leadership in aerospace simulation to catalyze innovation. Our intense focus on delivering our customers real world behaviors and force multiplier enterprise solutions continues to serve us well in extending our leadership position in aerospace and defense."
