PITTSBURGH - ANSYS President and CEO Jim Cashman was honored last evening by the Southpointe CEO Association as part of its World Class Chief Executive Series. Cashman is the latest recipient of the association's annual World Class CEO Award, joining the ranks of leaders from previously honored organizations such as Alcoa, Marathon Oil and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
"ANSYS is a remarkable company that is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and our award salutes the man who has been at the company's helm since 2000," said Pat McCune, board chairman of the association. "Through Jim Cashman's leadership, ANSYS added more than $200 million of new business in 2009 despite tough economic conditions. We congratulate Jim and ANSYS and recognize the financial and technological successes that they have brought to the region. All of us -- our businesses, our employees and our properties -- stand to benefit from these accomplishments."
"This honor reflects the dedication of everyone at ANSYS," Cashman said. "Our combined effort has resulted in a solid financial footing and a bright future. The companies that have used our engineering simulation tools over the past 40 years have developed a wide range of innovative products, from consumer electronic devices to green energy systems to airplanes. We look forward to seeing what they will do in the upcoming decades."
Past recipients of the association's World Class CEO Award include Thomas Usher from Marathon Oil Company and U.S. Steel Corporation, Paul O'Neil of the U.S. Treasury and Alcoa, Glen T. Meakem from Meakem Becker Venture Capital and FreeMarkets, and Tom Rooney of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Located south of Pittsburgh, the Southpointe CEO Association is supported and directed by CEOs in the Southpointe business park. In keeping with the public-private partnership that gave birth to Southpointe, the association brings local, national and international leaders together for informative events and works with government officials on all levels to build upon and expand the region's business success.
