ANDOVER, Mass – Aras®, a provider of enterprise open source Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software solutions, today announced that the Deutsche Blisterunion (DBU), an association of blister pharmacies, regional operating blister centers and industrial companies providing Blister Packaging of drugs for the individual patient, has selected the Aras PLM software suite to automate and streamline its document control and product release process and eliminate the use of paper documents completely.
Blister Packaging of medications is a revolutionary concept in the reading, packaging and distribution of pharmaceuticals. Blister Packaging eliminates bulk bottles of pills and tablets in lieu of blister packs of individual daily doses of a medication and detailed instructions on when and how to take the product. The automated assembly and blister packaging of tablets dramatically reduces dosage and medication errors and provides time savings and other conveniences for consumers, hospitals, retirement homes and other institutions.
Aras will drive the entire document control and release process for the production of patient-individual blister packs. The Aras Innovator Signature Connector, developed by Aras partner DataSquare, will enable DBU to document the release process with a qualified electronic signature, saving time, eliminating paper-based forms and manual entry, and ensuring that all protocols are digitally signed and archived in a legally secure and compliant manner.
“The DBU is dramatically changing the way medication is packaged and dispensed, and in the process providing a valuable service that benefits us all,” said Peter Schroer, president of Aras. “We are pleased that they selected Aras and we look forward to helping them achieve their strategic goals.”
