Innovative 3D Technology Continues To Build Patent Portfolio.
Boulder, Colorado - MS3D Technologies LLC (MS3D Tech), an engineering software consultancy based in Boulder, Colorado today announced that FreeDesign has been awarded a fourth patent for its unique, curve-based surface modeling technology. MS3D Tech was recently selected by FreeDesign Inc. to license or recapitalize its FreeDimensionT 3D modeling technology.
FreeDesign's patented technology sets the benchmark for "free form" 3D design systems. It delivers exceptional flexibility for industrial designers, product designers, game developers, creative artists and others needing to rapidly create stylized, water-tight 3D designs without the complex mathematical interfaces of traditional 3D CAD systems. FreeDesign now holds 4 patents for the technology, building strong value in its intellectual property portfolio.
MS3D Tech was chosen to explore opportunities for licensing or recapitalizing FreeDesign's technology, with focus on developing creative applications for the iPad/tablet PC markets. The patented technology lends itself to discoverable user interfaces required in the emerging mass market for 3D shape creation and editing. It allows for non-engineering, pen-on-paper-like interfaces for creative design of 3D objects that will appeal to a more diverse user base than the professional engineers targeted by CAD vendors.
"FreeDesign's n-sided surfacing and curve based modeling are a new paradigm for 3D shape creation, allowing designers to create objects in a manner similar to drawing on a piece of paper," said Bruce Morgan, partner, MS3D Tech. "This fourth patent brings even more weight to this ground-breaking technology from FreeDesign by protecting its unique methodology for real-time interactive updates of shapes and surfaces."
