Metal Stamping in VISI Progress for Mould & Die, Enhanced with Parametric Solving of 2D DCM.
PLANO, Texas – Siemens PLM Software and Vero Software Plc, a leading provider of CAD, CAM and CAE solutions for the tooling industry, today announced the integration of the D-Cubed™ software 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager (2D DCM) component from Siemens PLM Software in Vero’s VISI Progress software.
VISI Progress, part of Vero’s VISI suite of applications for the Mould & Die industries, is a dedicated solution for the metal stamping industry, enabling efficient design of progressive dies and press tools. Progressive stamping is the process of creating parts by starting with a strip of metal and then, in progressive steps, applying a series of operations such as coining, punching and bending. VISI Progress enables the 3D modeling of the dies and strip at each step in the process from blank to finished component.
The integration of the D-Cubed 2D DCM into version 17 of VISI Progress helps to ensure the complex relationships in a model are accurately maintained when modifications to the strip layout parameters are made. The user can make changes to the step length and strip width and VISI Progress will automatically update the previously constructed punch geometry and rebuild the strip. This new integration joins Vero’s existing implementation of the D-Cubed 2D DCM inside VISI Parametric Page (formerly VISI Storyboard). Integrated into more than three million end-user products, the D-Cubed 2D DCM is by far the world’s most widely used 2D geometric constraint solver.
“Using the D-Cubed 2D DCM in VISI Progress allows us to automate operations which would otherwise have required significant time and effort from the user,” said Gerard O'Driscoll, Research and Development Director for Vero Software. “Without the D-Cubed 2D DCM the cost of developing these improvements would have been prohibitive.”
“Continuous improvements to process automation in Mould & Die CAD/CAM applications are absolutely critical if manufacturers are to maintain their competitive edge in today’s difficult economic climate,” said Joan Hirsch, vice president, Product Design Solutions, Siemens PLM Software. “Vero Software’s new integration of D-Cubed 2D DCM is the latest evidence for this component’s ability to add value and reduce development costs for the developers of CAD/CAM products.”
The market leading functionality, quality and performance of D-Cubed 2D DCM is founded upon more than 20 years of continuous development, driven by feedback from the largest customer base of CAD, CAM and CAE vendors. Organizations of all sizes have selected the D-Cubed 2D DCM to maximize the value and minimize the risks from their investment in geometric constraint solving technology, demonstrating their confidence in Siemens PLM Software as a reliable long-term business partner.
