Provo, Utah: T-Splines, Inc, a producer of 3D surface modeling tools, today announced the release of T-Splines 2.1 for Rhino. Version 2.1 builds on the milestone 2.0 release in May of this year and further extends the software's toolset for creating organic, freeform shapes for manufacturing.
T-Splines for Rhino introduces timesaving commands to generate free-form surfaces and brings a full suite of polygonal modeling tools into industrial design software for the first time. This fully integrated Rhino plugin gives designers the ability to create smooth organic shapes, edit them quickly, and export them for manufacturing directly without any remodeling.
"With 2.1, we continue to advance our most comprehensive and feature-rich release in T-Splines' history," said Matt Sederberg, CEO of T-Splines. "Designers can now directly create and edit surfaces faster and easier than ever before, with full confidence that the end result will be a smooth, gap-free manufacturable model. The months since our 2.0 release have been our strongest sales months ever, and we would like to thank our customers for their support."
The features of T-Splines allow designers to trim hours or even days from the design process.
"T-Splines has allowed me to create and design my musical instruments much easier and faster," said Jason Burns, President of King Doublebass. "I can now create several variations on my design in an hour. This same process used to take days before I started using T-Splines."
T-Splines users can export T-Splines-generated designs for manufacturing without remodeling. Non-rectangular areas in T-spline surfaces are the smoothest of any software in its class. T-spline surfaces are aesthetically pleasing, easy to offset, and convert to NURBS patches without sliver surfaces.
"We continue to work closely with T-Splines in the evolution of their plugin for Rhino," added Bob McNeel, CEO of Robert McNeel & Associates, creators of Rhino. "The capabilities of their plugin are a great addition to any designer's toolbox."
A free trial version of T-Splines is available. T-Splines 2.1 is available for only $599. The upgrade is free for users of T-Splines 2.0 and $199 for users of all earlier versions. T-Splines for Rhino is available for sale at major Rhino resellers worldwide and at the T-Splines website.
