IIT Bombay and Zeus Numerix Pvt Ltd have planned to conduct "Vorticity" - a competition aimed at encouraging students to learn the basics of Computational Fluid Dynamics - at IIT Bombay Techfest 2009-10.
ZN has already deployed time bound licenses ZNTutor-CFD™ at the Techfest website and user manuals for CFDExpert™ on the company's website. Participants have been advised to study the basics and theory of CFD before attempting the problems. FAQs for the workshop will be posted at the Techfest website.
The participants will have to cross three levels of increasing complexity to emerge as winners. The first level involves a practice session on ZNTutor-CFD™. In the second level, the students will be required to solve a problem having moderate complexity. Students who qualify this level will be invited to attend Techfest at the institute campus to participate in the final event.
At Techfest, these selected students will have to solve the given problem within the stipulated time. Winners will be judged based on
(a) understanding of the physics,
(b) methodology of solving the problem,
(c) accuracy of the solution and
(d) interpretation of the solution.
Techfest attempts to bring the exotic and lesser known fields of science to the masses by popularising them among students.
