Customers Like Whiter Whites, Improved Colors and Stronger Models.
BURLINGTON, Mass - Whiter whites, richer colors and improved strength are increasing demand for 3D models printed using Z Corporation's new zp(R)150 build material.
"Wow, why does this model look so different?" a resort developer asked Rafael Tapanes, founder of the Miami-based Realization Group
"The white is very white. I love it!"
It was the first model that the multidimensional architectural visualization firm printed with zp150, and the client's reaction is typical, says Tapanes. Demand among architects has doubled since, and Z Corporation is receiving similar reports across its customer base.
Z Corporation introduced zp150 in June, citing its brighter whites, improved color and resolution, increased part strength and a new option to cure multicolor models with a spritz of water.
Brighter whites are especially important for architects, who traditionally prefer white models early in the design process so they can consider design, massing and space without the distraction of color. Although earlier-generation bone white models are acceptable, customers have been asking for pure white. "Now they've got it," says Tapanes, "and they love it."
Developers, on the other hand, prefer multicolor models so they can fully grasp the concept behind a proposal and begin selling it while it's still in development. Tapanes says the improved color saturation in zp150 is giving developers brighter colors across the spectrum.
Model strength is yet another improvement: "I no longer have to advise clients how to handle their models," Tapanes says. "In fact, I accidentally dropped a water-cured tower the other day, and it stayed intact. And if I cure a zp150 model with ZBond(TM), it's virtually indestructible and has an ultra smooth finish. With better strength, whiteness and color, zp150 has definitely advanced the states of the 3D printing and architectural modeling arts."
Availability
zp150 is available through Z Corporation's worldwide reseller network. It is compatible with the ZPrinter(R) 450 and ZPrinter 650(R) color 3D printers.
