Leading global oil and gas EPC realizes increased productivity and accelerated schedules with integrated enterprise engineering and 3D design solutions for onshore, offshore and drilling projects.
HUNTSVILLE - ENI Saipem S.p.A., one of the world’s largest oil and gas engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies, will standardize on the Intergraph® SmartPlant® Enterprise engineering solutions suite, including Smart 3D, Intergraph’s next-generation 3D design software to further increase productivity and cost savings and to accelerate project schedules.
An Intergraph customer for 20 years, Saipem experienced significant benefits and productivity gains using Intergraph’s plant design and information management software solutions. Saipem will now expand its use of these solutions, using Smart 3D as its new standard on a worldwide basis to enable complete integration in production within its onshore, offshore and drilling divisions and help the company maintain a competitive advantage in the global market. Smart 3D is available for both onshore plant design (SmartPlant 3D) and offshore and ship design (SmartMarine 3D). Smart 3D is the industry’s most advanced, most productive next-generation 3D design system on the market offering numerous unique capabilities including automated, rule-based design. Customers using Smart 3D typically report 20- to 35-percent increases in productivity.
SmartPlant Enterprise is an integrated solutions suite that provides full design, construction, materials and engineering data management capabilities needed for the creation, safe operation and maintenance, and capital Project Life Cycle Management (cPLM) of process, power and marine (offshore and shipbuilding) projects.
To review and achieve optimum production processes, Saipem recently started its Production Data Integration (PDI) program, a strategic initiative which specifies the usage of the fully integrated SmartPlant Enterprise suite for the design, procurement and construction of all new projects. The program encompasses all SmartPlant Enterprise solutions, including the SmartPlant Foundation and document management database, to interface with Saipem’s in-house applications.
Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power and Marine president, said, “As a leading global EPC in the oil and gas industry, Saipem’s decision to fully extend and exclusively use SmartPlant Enterprise solutions across its onshore, offshore and drilling units underscores the value Intergraph’s engineering enterprise solutions are providing to many of the world’s leading EPC companies and owner operators across the full spectrum of landside and marine plant creation.”
The ARC Advisory Group, a leading industry analyst firm, ranked Intergraph the No. 1 overall engineering design 3D software and process engineering tools (PET) provider worldwide according to its PET Worldwide Outlook Market Analysis and Forecast through 2013.
