Windchill Creates Collaborative Environment between Product Development, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing for Easier Compliance with Regulatory Mandates.
NEEDHAM, Mass - PTC, The Product Development Company, today announced that Kensey Nash Corporation, a leading medical technology company that provides innovative solutions and technologies for a wide range of medical procedures, has selected Windchill®, PTC’s PLM software, to manage its release to manufacturing processes for improved efficiency and visibility of compliance.
“Kensey Nash has an extensive product portfolio comprised of thousands of parts,” said Dennis Sauro, director of product design, at Kensey Nash. “We selected Windchill because it offers a better approach to collaborate more effectively within our enterprise as well as with suppliers and enables us to keep our products compliant through improved release to manufacturing processes.”
In addition to Windchill, Kensey Nash uses PTC’s product development software including Pro/ENGINEER® for the digital design of its biomaterial-based products, Mathcad® to capture engineering calculations, Pro/ENGINEER Mechanica® for virtual prototyping and Pro/NC™ for physical prototyping/production machining. Using PTC software, Kensey Nash is able to develop alternate solutions for design challenges without the need to test and create physical prototypes at each iteration of the design phase. This capability enables the company to solve for a variety of engineering and manufacturing issues at the same time, ultimately minimizing costs and improving time to market of new products.
“Today, eight of the world's top ten medical device manufacturers rely on PTC for their PLM solutions,” said David Rubin, director, product and market strategy, PTC. “Using PTC’s PLM software, companies like Kensey Nash are able to develop better quality, lower-cost products faster and streamline their introduction into the marketplace. We look forward to working with Kensey Nash to drive efficiencies throughout their product development processes.”
3HTi, a Platinum reseller in PTC’s Channel Advantage Program, also worked with Kensey Nash to establish a prototype shop that focused on product design and toolpath creation for CNC machines. The prototype shop enabled Kensey Nash to reduce the time spent developing an increasingly complex part fabrication process.
