ROSCOSMOS to leverage Dassault Systèmes’ comprehensive PLM Solution to Drive Quality

New Delhi: Dassault Systèmes (DS) announced today that Russian Federal Space Agency (ROSCOSMOS) officially stated that Dassault Systemes PLM solutions correspond to the Russian industry standards for design, development and production management of high technology products for aerospace and defence industry, including launch vehicles, satellites and space stations.

To address many of the industry’s challenges ROSCOSMOS will leverage Dassault Systèmes’ comprehensive portfolio of solutions, applications and professional services to implement, a new program designed to improve the overall quality in the Russian aerospace industry.

In particular, ROSCOSMOS will implement CATIA to manage the creation and development of 3D product designs through its state FSUE "EHO". In addition, it will deploy the DELMIA solution to support digital manufacturing processes.

All product design and manufacturing processes will be managed by DS’s ENOVIA platform which, as the core of Dassault Systèmes V6 solution, supports enterprise business process management and drives improved communication and collaboration between manufacturers and their supply chains.

Federal Space Agency Companies plan to use Dassault Systèmes PLM platform to address industry challenges by:

· Streamlining Product Design by using digital modelling to improve inter-departmental collaboration and promote greater knowledge sharing.
· Simplifying Design & Manufacturing by transforming complex 3D processes into reproducible models which help to improve production results.
· Reducing Product Design Cycle by leveraging virtual collaborative control methods to help predict product behaviour and ensure rapid decision making.
· Reducing Costly Mistakes by simplifying the flow of data between departments and helping them to correctly interpret the product’s definition.

“The advent of geographically disperse supply chains has placed a greater emphasis on the need for effective, real time communication. In addition to greater collaboration we also believe that 3D design technologies will have a major impact on future product quality by driving greater integration and data exchange between the key elements of mechanical, software and electrical engineering,” said Sergey Ponomarev, deputy head of Russian Federal Space Agency. “We share the vision on the future of 3D and believe that the PLM solutions will provide us with the one of cornerstones of our long term commitment to product quality.”

It is expected that, in the Russian aerospace industry, DS solutions will improve collaboration through streamlining of business processes as well as internal and external communications, i.e. among diverse departments of a company and with key partners and suppliers.

“We believe the Federal Space Agency’s commitment to enhance product innovation and quality by leveraging collaborative 3D design solutions will increase its competitiveness in the global space industry,” said Laurent Valroff, director Dassault Systèmes Russia Corp. “This announcement serves to reinforce the value that our customers are receiving as we continue to roll out new and innovative solutions based on the V6 technology.”
