Lightworks, a supplier of rendering solutions for developers of advanced 3D computer graphics software, today announced a strategic partnership with Caustic Graphics, creators of CausticRT.
CausticRT is an interactive ray tracing application platform, giving users the ability to create photorealistic images in a computationally fast and economical way. CausticRT is based on an algorithm that organises rays into a dataflow that takes advantage of the computational power of CPUs and GPUs available today. Also included is the new CausticGL™ API, which enables developers to simplify the creation of ray tracing renderers and provides accelerated performance on multi-core CPUs and GPUs. Working with Caustic will allow Lightworks customers to take advantage of the Caustic technology when it is introduced to the market in 2010.
Commenting on the partnership, David Forrester, CEO at Lightworks said, “As early adopters of this technology, we’re really excited about our partnership with Caustic Graphics as we believe their product has the potential to offer real value to the marketplace. We see this collaboration as a key development in the state-of-the-art technology incorporated within Lightworks and invite people to watch a demo of this technology on our booth at Siggraph.”
“Lightwork Design rendering solutions are the perfect products to take advantage of the CausticRT platform,” said James McCombe, co-founder and CTO of Caustic Graphics. “Lightworks customers will surely notice the benefit of our partnership through the high quality of images they’ll be able to create in a much shorter amount of time. We’re also looking forward to giving demos at this year’s Siggraph.”
Caustic will be featured in a new Lightworks application – Lightworks Artisan, which will be unveiled at Siggraph, New Orleans. Visitors to the Lightworks booth – 2635 – will be able to see the Caustic demo demonstrate multi-core working whilst also illustrating the performance improvements possible using Caustic.
