Lucknow, India, May 18, 2009: Tata Consultancy Services (BSE: TCS.BO, NSE: TCS.NS), the leading IT services, business solutions and outsourcing organization, today announced the launch of a new development center - TCS Awadh Park at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The new facility was inaugurated by Atul Kumar Gupta, Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh and S. Ramadorai, CEO and MD, Tata consultancy Services.
Spread over 3 acres of land, TCS Awadh Park is the second largest IT establishment in UP after the TCS facility in Noida. The state-of-the-art global delivery center located in a lush green campus with a capacity of 1,500 seats is the latest addition to TCS' Global Network Delivery Model.
Commenting on the new facility, S. Ramadorai, CEO and MD, TCS said, “Lucknow is an integral part of the TCS’ strategy to invest in Tier II cities and spread the IT revolution in the country. Lucknow has the potential to be a leader among the emerging IT destinations in India and it is this belief that has driven our strategy to invest in this area.” He added: “TCS’ expanded footprint in Lucknow should also encourage more investments in the city to help it realize its shared dream of becoming an IT-BPO.”
From Lucknow, TCS develops and implements software solutions for global corporations in countries like USA, Canada, UK, Singapore and South Africa. It also supports e-governance initiatives in the states of UP and Uttarakhand as well as select projects for Government of India.
The recent NASSCOM and AT Kearney’s study, on attractiveness and potential of 50 cities across India for IT-BPO operations, listed Lucknow as a 'challenger' after the top 7 existing IT destinations.
As the leader in the IT industry, Tata Consultancy Services has always had a sharp focus on the domestic market with over $500 million in revenues coming from the Indian market. TCS has played a key role in building the national financial infrastructure through projects like the National Stock Exchange, NSDL, NCDEX, State Bank of India as well as for various department of the Reserve Bank of India and the Finance Ministry. The MCA 21 by the Ministry of Company Affairs, a landmark project by TCS, has been a major step to governance reforms and is a benchmark in e-governance in the country.
