Mumbai, India - One of the initiatives introduced to improve the process of outsourcing components by BHEL, India is based on Nirvana Technologies PLUS 2D Suite. This has resulted in:
* Reduced planning and approval times for vendors
* Savings in material used in making the components
* Long-term benefit due to lower inventory carrying costs.
These measures have been implemented by BHEL at High Pressure Boiler Plant, Tiruchirapalli, India and Boiler Auxilliary Plant, Ranipet, India. Similar initiatives will be taken up by the plant at Hyderabad soon.
The PLUS 2D suite comprises of PLUS 2D Sheet Metal Nesting and Optimization software for plates and PLUS 1D Bar Nesting software for pipes and structurals. Nirvana has implemented a special “Large Parts with Joints” module to address the complex requirements of BHEL for optimized splicing of parts larger than available stock for both Plates as well as structurals. This alone has resulted in reduction of the planning and approval time from days to minutes.
PLUS 2D Sheet Metal Nesting and Optimization software is a state of the art nesting software for generating optimized layouts and reducing scrap generated by two dimensional rectangular and non-rectangular cutting (Guillotine cutting or shearing processes).
PLUS 1D Bar Nesting software is a multing optimization software to reduce waste in cutting 1D (lineal) material like pipes, channels, sections, bars, extrusions, etc.
