Portland, Maine - InterSpec Inc. has announced NBBJ has selected its patented e-SPECS solutions as the firm's Building Information Modeling (BIM) Specification Solution. NBBJ is a fully integrated, design firm providing services in architecture, planning, interior design and graphics. NBBJ specializes in environments for healthcare, corporate commercial, mixed use, higher education, civic, science and sports sectors. Each of the firm's nine global offices has embraced BIM and uses it to enhance the design services and delivery available to clients.
InterSpec's patented e-SPECS software solutions automate the preparation of construction specifications and selection of products and materials that are incorporated into commercial construction projects. InterSpec's e-SPECS products are used by thousands of architects, engineers and construction professionals to help them keep their construction drawings and specifications in sync while reducing the overall cost of development.
"We're proud to include NBBJ to our list of industry leading AEC firms recognizing the need for improvements in coordinated construction documents while saving time and money in doing so," said Michael Brennan, CEO of InterSpec. "e-SPECS provides these firms with centralized management of proprietary specification content including contractual language, owner requirements, product preferences, and lessons learned. e-SPECS is leading the way in providing the efficiency and intelligence to integrate firm preferences with the leading design applications such as Autodesk Revit based BIM applications."
Jeff Slane, a Principal at NBBJ, explains "As an industry leading firm, NBBJ is implementing seamless and efficient technology and applications across the enterprise. Synchronized BIM models and specifications along with central management of an NBBJ firm master confirmed our choice to implement e-SPECS. Centralizing our firm's intellectual property will help to reduce our data management and maintenance effort. e-SPECS enables us to create smart checklist and mapping preferences ensuring our projects include the information needed both with Revit BIM integration and as a standalone spec writing application."
NBBJ evaluated e-SPECS at two main offices on actual in-house projects. The Autodesk Revit BIM coordinated specifications and view/mark-up access to those specifications within Revit demonstrated coordination that could help reduce RFIs and Addendums in design documents. NBBJ will be managing their firm's specification masters based on MasterSpec along with VA masters using e-SPECS Designer office master management application. All offices will access firm design preferences centrally managed on industry standard Microsoft SQL servers. NBBJ is leveraging InterSpec training and services to facilitate the most efficient and cost effective means of integrating their construction document process.
