Cambridge, UK AVEVA today announced the acquisition of iDesignOffice Pty Ltd, a technology company based in Melbourne, Australia. This acquisition brings best-in-class instrumentation engineering technology to AVEVA's portfolio, extending and strengthening it in a key area to consolidate AVEVA's leading position in plant engineering software for both EPC contractors and Owner Operators.
Instrumentation Design Office (IDO), the software now owned by AVEVA, is a suite of integrated applications for creating and maintaining instrumentation engineering data for process plants. IDO will be renamed AVEVA Instrumentation and will be available standalone or as part of an integrated suite with other AVEVA products.
Extensive evaluation by AVEVA identified IDO as one of the most efficient and cost-effective suites of instrumentation engineering products available on the market today. Compared to its nearest competitor, its intuitive user interface is easier to learn and use, enabling highly productive use of its extensive function set.
Derek Middlemas, Group Operations Director at AVEVA, commented: "This technology acquisition enables us to fast-track delivery of greater business value to our EPC contractor and Owner Operator customers. As a strategic investment, it demonstrates both the strength of AVEVA's business and our commitment to delivering ever-increasing value in our product portfolio."
Garry Hobman, Director of iDesignOffice Pty Ltd said: "We are delighted to be able to associate our products for this vital aspect of plant engineering with those of an acknowledged industry leader. This is great news for our customers who will see opportunities opening up for more closely integrated project engineering, seamless handover of data, and more efficient operations support."
