Report cites software vendors that "are addressing key challenges to delivering profitable, innovative products faster and at lower cost".
VISTAGY, Inc., a leading provider of industry-specific engineering software and services, today announced that it has been included in the Cool Vendors in Product Design and Life Cycle Management, 2011 report by Gartner, Inc. The report (http://www.gartner.com/technology/media-products/reprints/vistagy/212421.html), which is available until September 8, 2011, concludes that software vendors specializing in composites technology are enabling manufacturers to engineer new materials that differentiate products.
“These software vendors are addressing key challenges to delivering profitable, innovative products faster and at lower cost,” cites Gartner’s Marc Halpern, the report author.
The report notes that, “manufacturers increasingly use complex materials, such as fabrics and composites. The unique engineering characteristics of fabrics and composites extend to products such as wind energy turbines, low-cost fabric structures and car seats. Use of fabrics and composites involves proper orientation of the materials, which are often layered in plies to get the optimal structural characteristics for use in car bodies, airframes and so on. Also, manufacturing with composites involves a level of precision that means the difference between parts with uncompromised strength and those with disastrous structural failure.”
Founded in 1991, VISTAGY has been at the forefront of the growing movement toward the adoption of composites for designing and manufacturing products in a variety of industries, including aerospace, automotive, wind energy, and marine. VISTAGY’s FiberSIM® is the world’s leading software for composites engineering, supporting all of the unique and complex design and manufacturing methodologies necessary to engineer innovative, durable, and lightweight composite products and parts.
VISTAGY plays a prominent role in aerospace and defense, working with companies such as Bombardier Aerospace, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin. In fact, VISTAGY has worked on the Joint Striker Program with a variety of vendors since 1997.
VISTAGY has also partnered with many of the premier wind turbine blade manufacturers in the world, including Nordex and Sinomatech, and some of the leading automotive companies, including General Motors, Faurecia, and Lear
“We’re pleased to be included in the Cool Vendors report as we believe it further affirms our industry-specific approach to software and services for the aerospace, automotive, wind energy, and marine markets,” said Bruce Boes, vice president of product management and marketing for VISTAGY. “Our customer-driven solutions enable manufacturers to do more with less by optimizing material usage, reducing weight, improving strength to weight ratios, innovating new processes, and incorporating the latest in materials.
About Gartner's Cool Vendors Selection Process
Gartner's listing does not constitute an exhaustive list of vendors in any given technology area, but rather is designed to highlight interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and services.
