Selection of D-Cubed 2D DCM by Mubitek Further Expands the Ongoing Adoption of Siemens' PLM Components into Growing Turkish Economy.
Siemens PLM Software has announced that Mubitek Tasarim ve Bilişim, a leading Turkish provider of engineering products and services, has licensed its D-Cubed™ software for use in a new Mubitek computer-aided design (CAD) product under development. Mubitek’s selection of the D-Cubed 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager (2D DCM) marks the first such license delivered in the growing Turkish economy, establishing a significant milestone in the ever expanding global adoption of Siemens PLM Software’s PLM Components.
“Like many companies that develop computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software, we needed a reliable 2D geometric constraint solver to power our sketcher, and the D-Cubed 2D DCM is undoubtedly the market leader,” said Mustafa Bintaş, Managing Director, Mubitek. “By licensing this proven core technology, we are able to optimize the effectiveness of our relatively limited resources by having them focus on innovative features for our new CAD product. And because Siemens PLM Software uses this exact same technology in its own products and licenses it through its open business model to software developers throughout the world, we know we are getting a dependable world-class solution.”
According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, Turkey’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) volume annual growth-rate for 2010 was 8.9 percent. Mubitek is a CAD/CAM software vendor and service provider with a focus on die and part design and manufacture for the automotive market. Founded in 2005, located in the Izmir technology hub, and with close associations to Ege University, Mubitek is one of the high-technology drivers of Turkey's strong economic growth. It undertakes a wide range of product and software development projects, and provides a wide range of associated consulting services.
The D-Cubed 2D DCM is the most widely adopted geometric constraint solver among CAD/CAM developers by a wide margin. Software vendors integrate the 2D DCM into their products, where it is commonly used to solve driving dimensions and geometric constraints to support a parametric sketching capability. The 2D DCM-based parametric sketching then enables the users of those products to more efficiently build and revise their designs.
“Mubitek is the first 2D DCM customer in Turkey, illustrating how our commitment to open technology and an open business model is helping to drive the ongoing adoption of our component software solutions by companies of all sizes and in all locations throughout the world,” said Jim Rusk, vice president, Product Design Solutions, Siemens PLM Software. “We are strongly encouraged by the expansion of our component software into the Turkish market and we look forward to making an important contribution to the success of Mubitek's new CAD product.”
