Advanced Composite Simulation Now Supports Analysis of Woven Composite Materials.
LARAMIE, Wyo - Firehole Technologies, Inc., a developer of analysis software for advanced composite structures, announces the immediate availability of Helius:MCT Version 3.0, the most advanced composite analysis solution commercially available. With the release of version 3.0, users now have access to multi-scale and progressive failure technologies for analyzing advanced woven composite materials in addition to unidirectional composites.
Nicholas Alley, Chief Technical Officer of Aerotonomy Inc. an aerospace research and manufacturing company, stated the following specific to version 3.0, “Firehole’s Helius:MCT was able to rapidly and accurately predict the structural performance of our complex composite airframe – manufactured from both unidirectional and woven composites.” For both Abaqus/Standard and ANSYS, Helius:MCT is available as a seamlessly integrated product. The Helius:MCT product includes a plug-in application that allows for simple inclusion of composite materials into a finite element analysis (FEA) model, as well as an add-on module that enables the FEA solver to perform multi-scale analysis. Also part of the package is Helius:MaterialManager, an application used to easily define composite materials and store them in a database.
Alley continued, “The superior analysis allowed us to quickly integrate solutions into our design process, which literally saved hundreds of design man hours by giving us the confidence to utilize a less complex and lighter design.” Using Helius:MCT™, engineers can reliably predict the performance of prototype or concept structures with composite materials prior to actual fabrication and testing, thus reducing the total cost and time of the development cycle while simultaneously increasing structural reliability.
