Cambridge, UK: At a very successful Process and Packaging Machinery Association (PPMA) Show this October, CAD Schroer, the global engineering solutions provider, introduced process plant owners in such industries as Food Manufacturing and Pharmaceuticals to a new concept for preventing expensive problems when adapting or moving their factories. The company demonstrated its latest MPDS4 FACTORY LAYOUT software and, together with well-known project engineering consultants CEL International (a longstanding MPDS4 customer), introduced a factory modelling service, which delivers a 3D model, complete with walk-through software and all CAD data, to clients looking to address process plant layout issues.
"We were delighted at the level of interest from factory Owner/Operators as well as machinery providers needing to relocate, consolidate, layout or visualise their installations. We are already taking things further with a number of prospects who are keen to get going," says Bill Wilkins, Technical Sales Manager at CAD Schroer UK.
"Many visitors looking to source new processing or packaging machinery also have factory layout issues they need to address as they consolidate, update or move manufacturing sites," says Anke Adams, Marketing Manager at CAD Schroer UK. "Typically they are working with 2D drawings to manage their layouts, but need a spatial element with clash detection as more changes are made more often, and more machinery needs to fit into tighter spaces. Problems not detected at the design stage get extremely expensive once a capital project is underway. We can help customers plan and cost necessary changes by quickly creating a 3D factory model from existing plans, 2D layouts and equipment models. With our MPDS4 REVIEW tool, all stakeholders involved in a factory adaptation or move can conduct virtual 3D walk-throughs to ensure a design meets all specifications prior to build or adaptation order."
A Quick Way to Get Started
The service offered in conjunction with CEL International can include measuring up existing sites, modelling existing equipment and adding the supporting services (piping, ductwork, electrical etc) to come up with an accurate digital model along with comprehensive CAD drawings, piping isometrics and parts lists for project engineers.
Customers taking advantage of this service as a quick way to achieve their objectives then have the option of using the MPDS4 FACTORY LAYOUT software to make future changes themselves. CAD Schroer's plant design solution works within existing CAD environments, incorporating existing CAD data (in-house and from machinery suppliers) to offer a fast 2D to 3D layout tool which handles a vast amount of data with ease. Any service supplied by CAD Schroer or CEL International delivers all the accompanying CAD files, making it easy for customers to kick off new projects or make modifications at a later date.
