New Delcam recruits to be introduced at EASTEC

Delcam will introduce two new recruits at the EASTEC exhibition to be held from 19th to 21st May in Springfield, Massachusetts. David Gray has joined the company as Sales Engineer for the South East USA, in particular Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi, and Chris Cole has been appointed as an additional Applications Engineer, working on Delcam’s feature-based FeatureCAM CAM system and the soon-to-be-released Delcam for SolidWorks product.

Coincidentally, David Gray was brought up close to Delcam’s Birmingham, UK, headquarters. After completing his apprenticeship in mechanical engineering and holding a number of sales positions in the UK, he moved to the USA in 1997. At this stage, David was focussed on the hardware side of the business. He subsequently moved across to CADCAM software sales, where he now has more than ten years’ experience.

Chris Cole has worked in manufacturing for almost twenty years since graduating from Virginia Tech. He spent eleven years in the machining industry before moving into the CAM business. Chris spent the next eight years using his CAM skills in demonstrations, training and support.

"It is pleasing to be announcing new hires at a time when we know that many of our competitors are reducing their staff,” said Maida Koller, Delcam’s Vice President for Sales in the Eastern USA. "This is especially true when we have been able to add such experienced people as David and Chris.”

"Their appointments reflect the growing interest we are seeing in Delcam’s broad range of CAM software,” she added. "We need more sales people to deal with the increased number of enquiries we are receiving and more applications staff to support our expanding number of customers.”

The appointments follow Delcam’s recent announcement that the company achieved record sales in 2008, despite facing the same economic challenges that other CADCAM companies are experiencing. When announcing the results, Delcam Chairman, Peter Miles, said, "The robust results achieved by the Group over the past financial year reflect the high-quality software products that we continue to offer and the benefits of our diversified business, both in terms of our geographic reach and the many industries that we serve.”

"The next two years are going to be difficult but also an opportunity,” he added. "The favourable exchange rate, strong cash position and high levels of predictable income present Delcam with a significant opportunity to increase our market share. During 2009, we plan to maintain our investment in product development and marketing to take advantage of the recovery when it comes.”
