Innovative partnership to promote joint NVH research activities
Leuven, Belgium – LMS, the engineering innovation company, announces its partnership with the Australian Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Together, they have established the “RMIT – LMS Centre of Expertise in NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness)”, located in Melbourne, Australia. This international cooperation is unique in its kind in Australia as it launches an innovative model for academic and industry engagement. The centre’s activities will mainly consist of education and research and the partnership will give RMIT University students the opportunity to perform an internship at one of LMS International’s worldwide offices.
“Establishing a strong partnership between LMS International and RMIT University provides a new way for industrial partners and universities to undertake joint research activities and develop a complementary expertise in a specialized area,” commented Aleksandar Subic, Professor and Head of the School of Aerospace, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineering at RMIT University.
The joint center will bring together LMS International’s know-how in instrumentation, simulation and testing software and RMIT University’s expertise in NVH research, application and education. The center’s laboratories will be fully set up with LMS equipment and software for modal analysis, spectral testing, and sound intensity measurements, including an advanced multi-channel acoustic camera, providing unique capabilities for both internal and external acoustic field mapping.
“With the new RMIT – LMS Centre of Expertise in NVH, we are supporting the Australian industry by educating and providing students with extensive NVH expertise. This is a first in Australia. Since LMS International is a worldwide market-leader in test and simulation-based NVH, we will be able to support the industry by offering regular technology updates as well as seminars for industry professionals and advanced graduate students. We are taking an important role by keeping the local industry up to speed with what is happening around the globe,” stated Boris Marrone, LMS International Area Manager SEA/Pacific.
