During the last week, Delcam has completed its first two sales to visitors to its stand at the MACH exhibition. The exhibition, which took place at the NEC, Birmingham, from 7th to 11th June, saw over 1,000 visitors to the Delcam stand, making the event by far the most successful event for Delcam since the previous MACH in 2008.
The most prestigious visitor to the Delcam stand was HRH the Duke of York. Delcam was chosen to be one of a small number of companies to be visited by the Duke, following its recent receipt of the 2010 Queen’s Award for Enterprise. The Award was made in recognition of the company’s continuing development of CADCAM software for the dental industry.
The first of the Delcam sales was made to a company that had been considering an upgrade to its CAM software for some months. "The owner was fairly sure that he needed to replace his existing system with Delcam software but wanted to see the various programs on show at MACH before making his final decision,” explained Delcam Marketing Manager, Peter Dickin. "Visits to all the other CADCAM companies at MACH convinced him that the Delcam system would give the greatest benefit to his company, in terms of machining speed and surface quality.”
The second order came following a recommendation by one of the many machine tool companies that had used Delcam software to program their demonstrations at the exhibition. The customer had confirmed an order for a large five-axis machine at the show and realised that he would need more powerful CAM software to gain the maximum productivity from his new acquisition.
"This customer had also visited all of the CADCAM companies at the exhibition and compared the five-axis capabilities of the various systems,” said Mr. Dickin. "While the recommendation from the machine tool supplier meant that we were always in a strong position to win the order, the calculation speed and the range of five-axis machining strategies in the software convinced the company that Delcam would be the best choice.”
Delcam promoted its CAM and inspection software in association with more than 40 partners at MACH, including many of the world’s leading providers of machine tools, cutting tools and inspection equipment.
