At the upcoming 2010 Intermold show in Osaka, on booth 6A-311, Sescoi will pre-launch the Japanese version of its award winning WorkXPlore 3D high speed viewing and analysis software, and demonstrating the latest Japanese version (V20) of WorkNC, the CAD/CAM system most widely used by Japanese toolmakers according to the Nikkan Kogyo Newspaper . Additionally, it will be demonstrating NCspeed V6.2, the newest release of this well-known toolpath optimization software.
WorkXPlore 3D helps engineers to compress the design and manufacturing process by encouraging collaborative and concurrent working. Users can import CAD data from multiple sources and multiple CAD systems, combining models in a single light-weight environment. Low cost and free modules allow people from across an organization and throughout its supply chain to interrogate the design and proposed manufacturing methods, add comments and analyze potential problem areas. By working simultaneously and inviting contributions from a wide range of disciplines, design and manufacture can be optimized to achieve the best possible product at the lowest cost and in the shortest possible time.
WorkNC Version 20 is the latest Japanese release of the company’s flagship software, which has consistently proven to be the most popular CAM software for toolmakers in Japan. A completely new toolpath combines Z-Level Finishing and Optimized Z-Level Finishing, eliminating duplicated passes, simplifying programming and improving the tool trajectory. The software also supports canonical cutters, which enable higher feedrates to be used and are especially useful in WorkNC’s Global Roughing/Reroughing strategy, simplifying the set-up of parts and shortening calculation times.
For multi-axis machining, Sescoi has introduced a new Auto 3+2 module to complement its Auto 5 module. This works in a similar way to Auto 5 by automatically changing 3-axis moves into 3+2 axis moves. The new software will greatly simplify programming these machines and will make it easier to optimize their productivity.
For the ultimate in efficiency, NCSpeed V6.2 will analyze the NC code and optimize feedrates. The system checks for air cutting and tool load, speeding up and slowing down the cutting as appropriate. By fine tuning the toolpath, machinists can make significant savings in manufacturing time while ensuring that tool life is kept to a maximum.
Visitors to the stand will be able to see the latest part produced for Mori Seiki’s Dream Cutting competition, programmed and machined by a WorkNC customer. Previous showpiece parts manufactured by WorkNC users include a Samurai’s ceremonial helmet, a robot hand, and the 2007 Dream Cutting winner ‘silver jacket’, a testament to the skill of the engineers and the power of the software.
