ZScanner 600 is the Reader’s Choice for November, and ZPrinting Helps Aerospace Company Place 3rd in “Change the World Challenge”.
BURLINGTON, Mass – Z Corporation recently earned two Desktop Engineering magazine honors: the “Reader’s Choice” award for November 2009 and “Rapid Technologies that will Change the World.”
The ZScanner® 600’s selection as the Reader’s Choice confirms it as one of the most compelling innovations for the engineering community of the fall. The ZScanner 600 is the world’s most affordable portable 3D laser scanner, providing high-resolution 3D data capture to a broad base of users at an economical price.
The ZScanner 600 extends Z Corporation’s fast-growing line of uniquely handheld, self-positioning scanners, which are more portable and easier to use than traditional 3D scanners. ZScanners streamline data capture for reverse engineering, product design, cultural preservation and other applications.
Z Corporation 3D printing is credited with helping Mirror Image Aerospace of Ogden, Utah, place third in Desktop Engineering’s “Rapid Technologies that Will Change the World” contest. The award goes to companies creating “products or processes that will have a major impact on our lives.” The magazine’s feature story spotlights the Skywalker Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) personal air vehicle and company CEO Kent Crookston’s use of a ZPrinter® 310 Plus 3D printer to fabricate parts for a striking, affordable, quarter-scale prototype model.
“These honors exemplify the growing broad-based interest in 3D scanning, 3D printing and their combined use,” said Z Corporation Vice President of Marketing Kevin Lach. “Every new product we introduce opens a range of exciting new applications, we’re pleased to be recognized for our innovative technology.”
