MÖLNDAL, Sweden - Astra Tech, a market leader in the field of implant dentistry, has announced their strategic alliance with Dental Wings, the Canadian-based provider of CAD/CAM solutions with specialized development of 3D scanners, beginning in early 2010. As a result, Dental Wings users worldwide will have the ability to remotely transfer scans to Astra Tech’s design and manufacturing centers for the production of Atlantis™ patient-specific abutments for all major implant systems.
”Incorporating Atlantis can greatly help to increase the efficiency and profitability of a dental laboratory. This new partnership with Dental Wings is an important step in our continued efforts to leverage technology to further enhance our customers’ experience with Atlantis abutments while reducing costs and turnaround times,” says Peter Selley, President and CEO, Astra Tech Group.
“The Dental Wings open platform consistently delivers increased value and greater flexibility to lab owners. Our relationship with Astra Tech is part of our ongoing commitment to build on the capabilities, services and features of DWOS™. We are very pleased to announce to our lab partners that they will now have direct access to Astra Tech’s manufacturing capabilities, one of the most reliable sources of CAD/CAM abutments,” says Naoum Araj, President of Dental Wings.
The process allows scanning of implant cases in the dental laboratory using a Dental Wings 3D scanner. A dedicated interface jointly developed by Astra Tech and Dental Wings facilitates the electronic transfer of scans from the Dental Wings user directly to Astra Tech’s design and manufacturing centers for precise and efficient production of Atlantis abutments. By eliminating the need for shipping case models, the laboratory is able to benefit from reduced turnaround times and cost.
