New Delhi, November 07, 2008 : Scaleo chip, a leading fabless automotive System-On-Chip (SoC) company and Tata Elxsi, a leading automotive service company today announced their partnership to build a rich and flexible AUTOSAR–based Automotive Platform. to cater to the car makers and the Tier-1s with cost-effective and innovative electronic solutions.
The increasing system complexity, short time development and cost reduction pressure drive automotive OEM to look for standard software combined with flexible and highly re-usable hardware system supporting car-to-car projects. Addressing this new challenge, Scaleo chip and Tata Elxsi have combined their automotive system expertise to jointly develop an Automotive Platform compliant to AUTOSAR standard. This hardware and software platform endows OEM and Tier-1s to define their system requirements at AUTOSAR level. They will be able to tailor both software and hardware to match their exact needs using the most appropriate Scaleo chip’s ASSP, custom ASIC or FPGA solution. As a result this approach will enable Tier-1s to support different car maker’s andvehicles architectures with a single software and hardware baseline running on Scaleo chip’s SoC or derivatives.
“Bringing together system and silicon has always been our leitmotiv. Our partnership with Tata Elxsi will enable us to offer our customers production ready AUTOSAR software built in to our products.” said Bruno Paucard, CEO of Scaleo chip. Prakash Satyanarayan, General Manager of Tata Elxsi, added “working in upstream with Scaleo chip, our endeavour would be to ensure that the customer application takes benefit of a reliable and tightly coupled AUTOSAR software and hardware.
The first available automotive platform elements will be configurable AUTOSAR Micro-controller Abstraction Layer (MCAL) modules dedicated to easyCANxF® and upcoming easyBCU® microcontrollerfamily addressing both body control and driver-information applications.
