Irvine, California - Luxion, a developer of advanced rendering and lighting technology and makers of KeyShot, the first realtime ray tracing and global illumination program, today announced that it was selected by PTC, The Product Development Company, as a launch partner for “Project Lightning,” now known as Creo. As a result of this selection, Luxion demonstrated the integration of Creo and KeyShot at the launch event in Boston, MA, on October 28.
“Upgrading our existing KeyShot plugin architecture was straight forward,” says Dr. Henrik Wann Jensen, Chief Scientist and co-founder of Luxion. “Not only could we re-use the majority of our existing implementation, but it was also incredibly easy to integrate the user interface components with Creo’s new UI and ribbon interface. We commend PTC on its vision and look forward to offering our solution on Creo.”
“Selecting Luxion as a launch partner enables us to demonstrate that Creo in combination with Luxion’s KeyShot rendering technology allows other members of the community such as sales and marketing to be involved early in the design process and utilize the digital data directly for the creation of product imagery” said Michael M. Campbell PTC’s Divisional Vice President of Design and Visualization Products.
Jensen further added:“ With a few clicks, users can take their part or assembly file in their desired representation, and transfer it to the KeyShot realtime raytracing environment. Once inside KeyShot, the user can turn the Creo CAD data into stunning photographic images in a matter of minutes. “We are excited that PTC selected Luxion as a launch partner,” Dr. Jensen continues. “This demonstrates a strong commitment to our joint customer base. Giving users the ability to quickly customize their CAD environment with the tools as they see them best fitting for their process will redefine digital product development for years to come.”
Luxion will continue to support the PTC customer base by providing the ability to import Pro/ENGINEER data (now known as Creo Elements/Pro) natively into KeyShot on both PC and Mac. In addition, Luxion offers a plugin for Pro/ENGINEER that provides a dynamic link between Pro/ENGINEER and KeyShot. This plugin is available to all KeyShot customers free of charge from the KeyShot website.
