Delcam to consolidate CAM leadership at JIMTOF

Delcam will look to consolidate its position as the world’s leading specialist supplier of CAM software at the JIMTOF exhibition to be held in Tokyo from 28th October to 2nd November. The latest NC Software and Related Services Market report from leading analysts CIMdata showed that, in 2009, Delcam again had the highest vendor revenues of all the CAM-centric companies and so completed a decade as the world’s leading CAM specialist. The company first achieved its global leadership in 2000, when it overtook Japanese developer Hitachi Zosen, and has kept that position ever since. After record six-month sales for the first half of this year, Delcam is expecting to extend its lead when CIMdata’s report on 2010 is published.

The CIMdata report also confirmed that Delcam has the largest development team in the industry, with 165 people working on the company’s CAM software. Only two other companies employ more than 100 CAM developers; Siemens PLM with 121 and Dassault with 110. Furthermore, the company was reported to have shipped more industrial seats of CAM software than any other supplier during the year.

A key factor in the company’s continuing success is its broad range of CAM software. Delcam can offer a CAM system to machine virtually any product, in any material on any type of equipment. No other supplier has such a broad a range of software to increase productivity, improve quality and shorten delivery times in so many applications.

Delcam’s full range of CAM systems is now made up of PowerMILL for high-speed and five-axis machining, FeatureCAM for feature-based machining, PartMaker for Swiss-type lathes and turn-mill equipment, and ArtCAM for routing and engraving. Together, the complete set of programs comprises the world’s most comprehensive collection of machining software; giving Delcam an unrivalled ability to provide solutions to all of a company’s programming needs.

Earlier this year, Delcam further extended its range with the addition of its first integrated CAM system, Delcam for SolidWorks. This new program is already attracting a high level of interest in Japan, where a number of leading resellers have agreed to promote it.

Other highlights of the Delcam stand at JIMTOF will include the 2011 releases of PowerMILL, FeatureCAM and PartMaker. These are expected to attract considerable interest from the existing users in Japan and from the growing number of manufacturing companies in the country that are looking to replace their existing CAM system with one of the Delcam programs.
