Seoul, South Korea - INUS Technology Inc has announced that Rapidform XOR3 is directly compatible with five leading CAD software applications. Rapidform was the first 3D scanning software to feature direct interfaces to CAD, enabling users to scan any object, generate parametric, feature-based models in Rapidform, then transfer the complete model to their CAD software. And because the award-winning Rapidform XOR makes real solid models using industry-standard techniques, these models are easily editable, just like any part designed in modern CAD software.
With the release of Rapidform XOR3, users can open reverse engineered models as native geometry in:
• SolidWorks 2007-2010
• Siemens NX4-NX7
• Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0-5.0
• AutoCAD 2008-2010
• CATIA V4
Rapidform’s pioneering approach to direct 3D scan-to-CAD compatibility is named liveTransfer. With liveTransfer technology, Rapidform XOR communicates directly with compatible CAD products to transfer the model step-by-step. Rather than getting shapes that must then be assembled and edited in CAD, XOR yields a native, complete history tree. Users can take a 3D scan of any object, convert the scan into a real history-based design model in Rapidform XOR, and then transfer it to their CAD system as a native file, with the parametric features and the relationship of those features as described in the history tree. The result is a native CAD model that is fully editable. liveTransfer interfaces for SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Pro/E and AutoCAD are included in every license of Rapidform XOR3. XOR3 also saves models in CATIA V4’s native .model file format.
Unlike other 3D scanning software, Rapidform XOR does real reverse engineering, not just surface extraction. It has a full complement of solid and surface modeling tools to address every type of part and every kind of 3D scan data. The CAD models generated in Rapidform are real CAD models, not just “CAD-ready” surfaces.
