New Kits Help to Simplify IEC 61508 and DO-178 Certification
NATICK, Mass : The MathWorks today introduced products that help engineers in the automotive, aerospace, and industrial automation industries efficiently use Model-Based Design or PolySpace code verification to develop high-integrity systems that comply with widely accepted standards.
IEC Certification Kit (for IEC 61508) contains TÜV SÜD certificates and certification reports, along with additional materials that are tailored to the MathWorks products and versions being employed. IEC Certification Kit supports Real-Time Workshop Embedded Coder and PolySpace code verification products, which includes the MISRA-C 2004 code analyzer.
DO Qualification Kit (for DO-178) includes tool operational requirements, tool qualification plans, test case models and code. DO Qualification Kit supports Simulink Verification and Validation, SystemTest, and PolySpace code verification products. Engineers can use the kit materials to help address the individual components of each standard’s tool qualification requirements and produce the required evidence to demonstrate compliance.
IEC 61508, a widely used safety standard for electronic systems, is commonly applied to the development of embedded software for the automotive and industrial automation industries. DO-178 is the de facto safety standard for avionic system software that defines the guidelines for development of software used in airborne systems and equipment.
“Our customers expressed a need for additional guidance when using Model-Based Design or PolySpace code verification to create high-integrity systems that comply with tightly defined industry guidelines and standards,” said Jon Friedman, Aerospace & Defense and Automotive Industry marketing manager, The MathWorks. “The Certification and Qualification Kits will help engineers streamline their current and future high-integrity systems development using MathWorks tools.”
