Achievements in building a vibrant, successful and open worldwide community for SolidWorks users recognized
Denver CO - The CAD Society today announced that Richard Doyle is the winner of the 2009 CAD Society Joe Greco Community Award, for his achievements in building the SolidWorks community throughout the last decade.
The CAD Society Awards acknowledge the contributions made by individuals that have affected and developed the CAD, engineering, manufacturing and architecture software industries. The Joe Greco Community award recognizes outstanding work in improving communication and developing community within the CAD industry, and is awarded in memory of Joe Greco, a past CAD Society president.
Back in 1999, Richard Doyle started a local SolidWorks user group in his home town in Texas. Within 2 years of starting that he had built a popular user event for SolidWorks users across the entire state, with over 600 total attendees over the span of 4 years. Since then, and while working for SolidWorks, he has helped build the SolidWorks User Group Network into an 8,000-member organization with 150 local groups in 22 countries.
Richard was nominated for the award by another SolidWorks User Group leader, Daniel Bertschi, who founded the Northeast Ohio SolidWorks User Group. “Richard’s enthusiasm and commitment has made the SolidWorks User Group Network what it is today. Richard truly cares for the people in the CAD industry, and graciously sets the bar high for others in the CAD community to follow. This award is a well-deserved recognition of his efforts.”
"Richard Doyle's passion for helping CAD users is evident," said Jeff Ray, CEO of Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp. "For years, Richard has helped designers thrive by relying on one another as resources—both in their local communities and online. This recognition, and the nomination from one of the SolidWorks User Group leaders, is fitting and well-deserved."
The awards will be presented at COFES (Congress On the Future of Engineering Software), this year scheduled for April 16-19 2009 in Scottsdale, AZ. Past winners of this award include: Evan Yares, Sean Dotson, Chris Yessios, Lynn Allen, Randall Rath, CJ Shirk, Kristine Fallon, and Ralph Grabowski.
