SYCODE launches DWG and DXF file import add-ins for SpaceClaim

Panaji: SYCODE today launched DWG and DXF file import add-ins for SpaceClaim.

"SpaceClaim already has the ability to read DWG and DXF files", explains Deelip Menezes, Founder and CEO of SYCODE. "In fact, SpaceClaim goes a step further than other CAD software and gives the user the option to read DWG/DXF files using Autodesk’s authentic RealDWG libraries or the reverse engineered libraries from the Open Design Alliance. However, both these technologies are unable to translate 3D mesh objects in DWG/DXF files into SpaceClaim. Considering that SpaceClaim is a 3D solid modeler this is a grave limitation, especially since all objects described by 3D meshes in DWG/DXF files will need to be reconstructed from scratch in SpaceClaim."

SYCODE’s DWG and DXF file import add-ins for SpaceClaim remove this limitation by giving SpaceClaim the ability to read PolyFace Mesh, Polygon Mesh and 3D Face objects in DWG/DXF files and convert them into solid objects in a SpaceClaim document. These solids can then be edited using SpaceClaim’s excellent direct editing tools, as if they were created in SpaceClaim itself.

Most 3D architectural objects found in DWG and DXF files are defined by 3D meshes. Similarly many objects are originally created in mesh based software like 3D Studio MAX and then find their way into DWG or DXF files. SYCODE’s add-ins not only give SpaceClaim the ability to access these objects, but also edit them as native solids.

“Besides enabling effective and efficient data transfer between SpaceClaim and AutoCAD, IntelliCAD and other DWG based software, these add-ins also go a long way in helping users make the transition to SpaceClaim without losing access to their existing 3D mesh data”, says Deelip Menezes. “Data exchange between CAD applications is a problem that does not seem to be going away anytime soon. At SYCODE, we are doing our bit to solve the problem by giving users the tools to get their data from one CAD software to another. In releasing these two add-ins, SYCODE has crossed a milestone of sorts. We now offer more than 150 products, 151 to be precise, a majority of which are data exchange plug-ins for major CAD systems.”

The two add-ins being released today are:
DWG Import for SpaceClaim DWG file import add-in for SpaceClaim
DXF Import for SpaceClaim DXF file import add-in for SpaceClaim

Both add-ins are priced at $195 each and are available as fully functional 10 day/run trials. Each product comes with an installer and detailed documentation in the form of a compiled HTML help file which contains a step-by-step tutorial to get the end user started in the shortest possible time.
