AUSTIN, TEXAS — BOXX Technologies, the leading authority on dedicated rendering and innovator in high-performance computing systems for visual effects, post production, animation, design, and visualization, today announced that the 3DBOXX 8550 XTREME workstation will be demonstrated at the Autodesk University 2010 conference and exhibition at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nov.30-Dec. 2.
Featuring dual, performance-enhanced, Intel® Xeon® 5600 Series processors and available with up to four NVIDIA® GPUs, 8550 XTREME is the fastest workstation in the world. In fact, the results of recent SPEC CPU and CINEBENCH independent bench mark testing confirm that, for creative software applications, XTREME is the top performing Xeon-based workstation on the market. SPEC CPU is designed to provide performance measurements that can be used to compare compute-intensive workloads on different computer systems. The SPEC CPU results published Nov. 23, 2010, feature benchmark suite CINT2006, which measures and compares compute-intensive integer performance. Complete test results can be found at: http://www.spec.org/cpu2006/results/cpu2006.html. CINEBENCH (developed by MAXON) is an advanced hardware testing suite that assesses a computer's performance capabilities.
“The SPEC CPU and CINEBENCH benchmarks offer proof positive of 8550 XTREME’s industry leading performance,” said Shoaib Mohammad, Director of Marketing and Business Development at BOXX. “And AU 2010 presents a great opportunity for Autodesk users to experience the benefits of this solution—unparalleled performance, superior image quality, and a fully integrated and optimized workflow across all professional applications, enabling them to create detailed images in less time.”
Capable of reaching 4.2 GHz, 8550 XTREME features up to 12 cores of multitasking performance for design, animation, rendering, visualization, VFX compositing, video editing, and DI, and is designed to accommodate multi-threading, multiple applications, and complex production pipelines.
“We are enthusiastic about the 3BOXX 8550 XTREME use of the Intel Xeon Processor 5600 Series solution”, said Anthony C. Neal-Graves, general manager of Intel’s Professional Workstation Group. “With 12 cores, twenty-four threads, larger and smarter caches and faster frequencies, we think artists, designers, and engineers will have an opportunity to design, test, and visualize their ideas faster than ever before.”
At AU 2010, 3DBOXX 8550 XTREME will demonstrate a variety of Autodesk® products at Intel Booth #122 along with a BOXX renderPRO cluster. renderPRO is the world’s first personal, desk side, dedicated rendering solution. 3DBOXX 8550 XTREME (with 4 GPUs) will demonstrate new iray® GPU-based features within Autodesk® 3ds Max® at NVIDIA booth #401. Also, Autodesk® 3ds Max® product manager, Shane Griffith, will employ another 4 GPU 3DBOXX 8550 XTREME to demo new iray® features in an instructional session “Join the Revolution: Rendering with iray.”
