Pacific's School of Engineering and Computer Science to Design Curriculum Around AutoCAD LT Work-Alike.
NOVATO, CA - University of the Pacific's School of Engineering and Computer Science, and IMSI/Design, maker of the #1 best-selling CAD in retail, announced today that the university will standardize on DoubleCAD XT PRO for 2D CAD instruction.
Based on IMSI/Design's award-winning CAD code with over two million copies sold worldwide, DoubleCAD XT PRO is an AutoCAD LT work-alike with features that far surpass AutoCAD LT, including a powerful drafting palette, a wide range of architectural objects and interop file filters, and sophisticated geometric and dimensional (parametric) constraints, a feature that was only recently added to AutoCAD 2010.
"DoubleCAD XT PRO immediately feels familiar while adding numerous additional features," stated Paul Burdick, Systems Administration at the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Pacific. "We're excited to extend our current CAD curriculum with DoubleCAD XT PRO."
IMSI/Design worked closely with Pacific to create a licensing program and deployment strategy that provided significant benefits to the engineering program.
"We've always been hampered by other CAD vendors' licensing and activation technologies," added Burdick. "DoubleCAD XT PRO deployments are easy, saving us a lot of installation and licensing headaches. Students can even download a free, non-water marked, non restricted version of DoubleCAD to use at home or take with them to a job site."
