Cloudis and Kubit Develop CAD Interface

Cloudis, the UK-based specialists in cable lifecycle management and routing software, have entered into a strategic partnership with Kubit of Dresden, Germany, who specialize in developing software for the capturing of geometric and non-geometric data. Kubit also have offices in Houston, TX.

The companies are developing an interface between Cloudis' CMPIC software and Kubit's hylasFM software, so that geometry created in AutoCAD can be used bi-directionally within the CMPIC cable management database.

The interface will enable users of AutoCAD to create cableway connectivity (trays, ladders, penetrations and trenches), either in a new model or as an overlay on an existing one. Once cables have been routed in CMPIC, the cable routes and other attributes will be searchable from the model and vice-versa.

The interface will also be of benefit to companies who have existing plant, rigs or vessels with trays and other cableways already in place (such as for refurbishments). In these cases, if no CAD drawings exist, the user can also use Kubit software to capture existing cableways on-site using a total station. This data will then form the basis for the routing and management of new cables in CMPIC.

The interface will be demonstrated by Cloudis at Daratech Plant 2009.
