CCE Releases world’s first independent API for CATIA V6

ODX/CAT6 reinforces CCE’s commitment to robust CAD interoperability.

FARMINGTON HILLS, Michigan – CCE, a provider of advanced interoperability technology announces the release of its newest Open Data eXchange (ODX) library - ODX/CAT6 - for accessing CATIA Version 6 (V6) data without requiring a CATIA Version 6 license or software. This is a major milestone for the interop industry as ODX/CAT6 is the world’s first API for CATIA V6 independent of Dassault.

“Dassault’s new CATIA V6 technology is based on a brand new data architecture platform that is not compatible with Dassault’s previous generation CATIA V5 software.” said Vinay Wagle, CCE’s VP of Sales & Marketing. “Developing interop technology for a new data platform takes years of trial and error effort. But CCE’s mature software processes and experienced developers has enabled the company to compress the development cycle to months, putting us well ahead of our competitors.” added Vinay.

The first release of ODX/CAT6 provides support for visualization & geometry data and assembly structure. CCE is scheduled to add more advanced functionality in the next few releases to support FT&A and feature information.

ODX is a collection of software development libraries that provide users the ability to read & write native CAD files, without the cost of ownership associated with the respective CAD systems. Applications developed using ODX are completely independent of any form of CAD software or licensing. ODX libraries are very robust and are currently being used by a number of leading MCAD software ISVs worldwide. The libraries, architected using the state-of-the-art technologies and developed in portable C and C++, are easy to implement and are continuously updated to support the latest releases of all major CAD systems.

CCE Announces Oceans SDK, a first-of-its-kind Middleware to connect Enterprise Applications with CAD data assets

CCE Announces Oceans SDK, a first-of-its-kind Middleware to connect Enterprise Applications with CAD data assets

Farmington Hills, Michigan : CCE announces its latest innovation, Oceans SDK, to connect Enterprise Applications to CAD data assets. Oceans SDK is a first-of-its-kind technology that provides access to product data stored in CAD files via a single C++ API for all major CAD formats. Oceans SDK supports CATIA V4, CATIA V5, Unigraphics, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Pro/ENGINEER, Autodesk Inventor, Parasolid, IGES and STEP data formats. Oceans SDK does not require a license of the CAD system to access its data.

Oceans SDK provides seamless access to critical product data stored in CAD files. Enterprise applications deployed today use innovative software architectures such as SaaS to bring the benefits of optimized and holistic workflow management applications to a wider audience within the extended enterprise. The same applications, however, are hampered by restrictive architectures and licensing requirements that prevent them from fully exploiting the CAD data assets for the benefit of everyone in the product lifecycle.

According to the recently published “Collaboration & Interoperability Market Report 2008” from Longview Advisors, use of 3D CAD data in downstream applications is increasing, with predictions of further increase as “it seems there is a continued slow migration to complete reliance on 3D CAD data in product design and engineering”. CCE believes this is the democratization of 3D data in the enterprise. Oceans SDK, with its innovative, untethered architecture, is the ideal middleware for any enterprise application wanting to integrate 3D CAD and is well suited for products such as Product Data Management (PDM) systems, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems, Web-based Catalogs, Sales Configuration Systems etc.

“Currently the only way enterprise applications such as PLM, ERP and MRP, can gain access to CAD-authored product data is by licensing expensive royalty-based API’s from CAD software OEM’s” says CCE’s VP of Sales & Marketing, Mr. Vinay Wagle. “Oceans SDK will provide an easy and non-royalty based solution to all such enterprise application providers, thereby providing them with a significant edge over competition” adds Vinay.

EnSuite Adds Ability to Move Components in Assemblies and Improves Collaboration

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – CCE has announced that it has added the ability to transform and rotate components in heterogeneous and homogenous assemblies as well as improved markup collaboration capabilities in EnSuite Version 2 – its multi-CAD viewing, translation and productivity software. “In this new version we have raised the bar another notch by providing new capabilities for downstream manipulation of homogeneous or heterogeneous assemblies while also simplifying the process of communicating markup and redlining information by attaching the markup to the CAD file,” said Vinay Wagle, V.P. Sales & Marketing for CCE.

The transform and rotate components in assembly feature enhances the ability of EnSuite users to work with assemblies created by inserting components from a single or multiple CAD systems. In the previous version of EnSuite, components could be moved to create the assembly but were fixed from that point on. In the new version, components of existing assemblies can be rotated or transformed at any time. This feature enables users to, for example, evaluate the functionality of a mechanism by moving components through their full range of motion to identify and correct interferences.

This feature improves on the already powerful ability of EnSuite to create assemblies using components from different proprietary and neutral CAD formats such as Pro/ENGINEER, CATIA V4 or V5, SolidWorks, Unigraphics, IGES, STEP and Parasolid. Each individual or company involved in a collaborative product development project can create and modify components in their own CAD system while the entire assembly can be viewed, evaluated and marked up in a single environment.

The collaborative capabilities of EnSuite have also been improved by storing markup and CAD data in a single file in order to simplify communications. In previous versions, markup data was saved in separate files and the CAD file as well as each markup file had to be stored and transferred separately. In the latest version, the option is provided to save the CAD file and all markup images in a single file using CCE’s proprietary ES3D file format. The user can deliver the CAD data and multiple markup images in a single file for easy sending and viewing.

The latest EnSuite update will be available to all active subscription license customers as well as to new customers.

EnSuite goes far beyond the capabilities of conventional viewers and translators by providing a wide range of productivity tools for accessing critical engineering information. EnSuite prevents users from saving changes to the master CAD model to protect integrity of the master model. Licenses are automatically administered and the product updated over the Internet.

EnSuite is designed for companies that work in a multi-CAD environment, such as those used by customers, vendors and partners. EnSuite provides seamless interoperability with CATIA V4, CATIA V5, Pro/ENGINEER, Unigraphics, and SolidWorks CAD systems as well as Parasolid, IGES and STEP files. Files can be translated to and from any of these formats without the native CAD software.
