Technology ideal for tunneling, pipelines, and shipbuilding.
OLATHE, Kan - Sokkia’s Gyro Station technology combines a gyroscope with a total station, creating a multi-use, unique surveying and engineering instrument designed to provide superior solutions beyond the reach of other technologies including tunneling, road, railroad, power line, pipeline and similar long and narrow, or underground construction projects.
Denny Welch, senior vice president of the Survey Business Unit, said, “Sokkia’s Gyro Station is a market-proven instrument and now its capabilities are enhanced by combining Sokkia’s SRX robotic total station with the gyroscope.”
The Gyro Station now has auto-pointing capabilities and a newly equipped image sensor. GYRO X automatically finds true north and determines the azimuth with 15” precision regardless of work site environment.
“By automating the processes, human error is eliminated” Welch said, “and this saves time on the job and decreases operator stress and fatigue. The process is simple – point the Gyro Station to approximate true north, release the clamp, and push the measurement button. It’s easy to learn how to use the GYRO X, even for unskilled operators.
“The Gyro Station has extremely high accuracy and speed and is not restricted by location, weather or time of day,” Welch said, “or skill of the operator.”
Three models of GYRO X – 1”, 2”, and 3” – are available.
