Infolytica Corporation today announced plans to include an extensive thermal analysis module in the next release of MotorSolve, which is due out by fall 2011. With this latest addition, it will be possible to evaluate the impact of temperature and different cooling methods on the performance of brushless, PMAC and induction machines.
The addition of coupled thermal-magnetic simulations will be the most significant enhancement to the functionality of MotorSolve since the launch of this software title.
The thermal analysis module will be a cost option that enhances the accuracy of the existing result computations by accounting for heating and cooling on performance as well as offering new temperature related outputs. Designers can determine the impact of different cooling methods on how the motor will perform.
MotorSolve uses a FEA engine to perform coupled thermal-magnetic simulations which ensures a higher degree of accuracy compared to analytical methods, particularly when calculating end winding temperature and heat flow.
Combining the electromagnetic and thermal analysis in one motor design software is yet another unique feature that MotorSolve will have compared to other tools on the market.
"Other companies promise easy exports to third party packages or transferring data to other more expensive tools to get the complete picture. The new thermal module in MotorSolve means users no longer have to perform tedious steps, deal with compatibility issues or purchase costly upgrades" said Behzad Forghani, Vice-President at Infolytica Corporation. "Using the same software and same motor model, you can calculate flux linkage, efficiency and the temperate in each component of the motor with ease."
Pricing and Availability
MotorSolve v3 will be available in fall 2011 for PC's running Microsoft Windows XP, Vista and 7. For information regarding pricing or further details about this upcoming release, please contact an Infolytica Corporation representative nearest you.
