Transoft Solutions’ Sign Design Software gets New Template System, Extended Libraries, and Greater Usability
Vancouver, B.C, Canada: Transoft Solutions, developers of innovative, industry leading software for the engineering and architectural communities, announce the launch of the latest version of the efficient sign design software, GuidSIGN version 5.0. A uniquely powerful CAD-based What You Draw Is What You Get (WYDIWYG) tool, GuidSIGN Version 5.0’s advanced features, functions, and easy usability can deliver cutter-ready signs designed to standard in minutes.
“This new 5.0 version of GuidSIGN is a giant leap forward over the 4.0 series releases,” commented Michael Frost, Transoft Solutions Product Manager. GuidSIGN Version 5.0’s new features, functions, and added libraries were developed to give traffic engineers the most efficient, time saving, productivity enhancing sign designing capabilities.”
The most notable new feature in GuidSIGN Version 5.0 is the new QuicDesign template system that supplies national standard templates to help users create signs quickly and with greater consistency. “QuicDesign ensures standardized sign creation for multiple stakeholders on shared projects,” said Frost. “This means that DOT traffic engineers and consultants can share standardized templates and ensure repeatable time-savings with certainty all completed signs will
meet design requirements as well as increased output speed.”
Designers can browse by road classification or sign designation to select the appropriate template. QuicDesign also give users the ability to replace the content of the template by keying in changes or through the new Name Lookup feature.
With Name Lookup users can easily select destinations based on the included American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Control Cities or United States Geological Survey (USGS) Place Name Lists. Inversely, users can create templates from previously created guide signs. Additionally, once created, users can create a custom library of their completed signs for use in traffic signing plans and structural detail drawings.
Sign and content libraries within GuidSIGN have also been augmented to make them more extensive than previous versions. Included are more MUTCD standard highway signs, panels, symbols, and arrows from US, Canada, and Australia. The Create Custom Arrow tool gives designers the ability to create state specific arrows and further extend the arrow libraries.
In addition to the new template system and extensive (customizable) libraries, GuidSIGN Version 5.0’s interface and usability also get a boost over the previous versions. New built in command hints – a feature users can disable if they choose – give designers new to the software a shorter learning curve and more familiar users an alternative method of achieving similar outputs. As well, users of all levels can review the newly included tutorials to speed learning time or to just brush-up.
