Bentley Systems CEO Greg Bentley to Join Panel Hosted by U.S. House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee

Discussions to Focus on Improving the Performance of Transportation Programs.

EXTON, Pa. – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, today announced that CEO Greg Bentley will speak at a special Transportation and Infrastructure Committee “Listening Session” on Feb. 17, 2011. The session, which is open to the public, is being held at the Valley Forge Visitors Center, Radisson Valley Forge Hotel, King of Prussia, Pa., from 7:15 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Hosted by U.S. House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica (R-Fla.) and Congressman Patrick Meehan
(R-Pa.), this roundtable discussion will focus on improving the performance of transportation programs by speeding government approvals and streamlining the project delivery process. Mr. Bentley will address Committee members at a special pre-meeting and present his ideas for improving highway project processes in the U.S. from an information technology perspective. At the roundtable, Mr. Bentley will join participants in a discussion on how to consolidate and improve the performance of transportation programs, cut government red tape and streamline the project delivery process, increase private sector investment in our infrastructure, and identify creative alternatives to financing projects. The takeaways from the session are to be used by the Committee to help write a long-term, fiscally responsible transportation reauthorization bill.

“I am grateful to Chairman Mica and Congressman Meehan for inviting me to present my views on topics so crucial to our nation’s long-term economic resiliency,” said Mr. Bentley. “There is great opportunity for improved information workflows to accelerate the project delivery process of our transportation projects. Information modeling best practices lead to highly efficient and successful transportation projects, such as the I-35W Bridge rebuild in Minneapolis, which was completed in less than 15 months, and a host of other examples that can be found in Bentley Systems’ Year in Infrastructure publications.

“More, however, needs to be done to facilitate the deployment and implementation of innovative technologies on our infrastructure projects, and more public-private partnerships (PPP) are needed to increase investment in infrastructure, leading to sustained economic growth for our nation. A great example of the value public-private partnerships create comes from Chairman Mica’s home state of Florida, where the I-595 design/build/finance/operate/maintain project involving reversal lanes achieved a dramatically accelerated project schedule as a result of being
a PPP.”
