Siemens PLM connection 2008 was held across the country in 12 cities - Delhi , Kolkata , Ludhiana , Mumbai , Aurangabad , Pune , Nashik , Ahmedabad , Coimbatore , Chennai , Hyderabad & Bangalore. A large number of new and existing customers were present.

"In India, the automotive sector is the largest segment of our customer base. Almost all four-wheeler companies use our solutions. Two-wheeler manufacturers such as Hero Honda and Bajaj have also adopted Siemens PLM solutions. Because of this many of their suppliers have also started migrating to Siemens PLM," Narendar Reddy, vice president and general manager for India Operations, Siemens PLM Software.
"This is also the First Anniversary of Siemens PLM Software following the acquisition of UGS by Siemens. With the Siemens brand coming in customers are even more comfortable with our solution. The visitors were really excited to see our new solutions this year," he added.
The Siemens PLM connection Conference Highlights included Synchronous Technology, NX6, Solid Edge with Synchronous Technology, Teamcenter 2007, Tecnomatix.
Synchronous Technology enables upto 100 times faster Design experience while Tecnomatix can help optimize manufacturing processes and build higher quality products more efficiently. Apart from this, the conference also included customer case-studies and presentations by sponsors / partners. HP, nVidia, Avocent, NetApp & Z Corporation were the sponsors.
Siemens PLM Software has operated in India for nearly 20 years and has more than 2,500 customers throughout the country. Its customer list includes leading manufacturing enterprises from such industries as automotive and transportation, machinery, aerospace and defense and numerous small- to mid-sized businesses.
Some of their large and prestigious customers in India include Tata Motors, M & M, Maruti, Bajaj Auto, Indian Railways, Escorts, Ashok Leyland, L&T, BHEL, LMW, HAL, Ordinance Factories, etc. "Two years back Suzuki implemented Digital Manufacturing and early this year M&M has joined the league. Now TATA has more than 3000 users of our solution, " Reddy said.
Throughout India, Siemens PLM Software employs more than 900 professionals and has offices and centers in five cities. It serves customers in more than 50 cities across the country and also has a strong channel network. In addition, Siemens PLM Software’s products are also used to train students at more than 300 engineering colleges and training centers across the region.
Speaking of the company's expansion in the training front Reddy said that they were on the look out for entrepreneurs who would set up Authorised Siemens PLM training centers. "We also have a global certification from Siemens PLM so that our customers can hire people easily," he added.
Siemens PLM's India-based development team has experienced a growth rate of 30 percent (CAGR) over the last few years. With over 600 people, the company's largest R&D center is located in Pune.
