Camarillo - In 2008, to protect its patented “Engagement Milling” technology, Surfware Inc. filed a lawsuit in Federal Court against Celeritive Technologies. The lawsuit was settled last week before going to trial.
Under the terms of the settlement, Celeritive has licensed certain portions of Surfware’s proprietary technology. However the most important claims of Surfware’s patent, as implemented in the award winning TrueMill™ were not licensed to Celeritive. Only Surfware’s TrueMill™ implements the revolutionary engagement milling technology that allows 50% faster machining of titanium and other exotic materials by controlling engagement and tool load with a constant feed rate to significantly increase tool life.
The remaining terms of the settlement will remain confidential.
TrueMill is currently available from Surfware and has dealers and technical support personnel worldwide. Since 1989, Surfware provides two through five axis CAD/CAM systems for CNC machines.
