Planit’s Chief Technology Officer Russell Franks says the sheet metal industry is now at a point where offline press brake programming software can improve the performance of any company using press brakes.
“Traditionally, programming would be done at the machine, online, by an experienced engineer who manually adjusts the flat pattern, figures the bend sequence, selects the right tooling, and then begins the process of trial and error.
“As nesting and CAM systems continue to advance, the manufacturing process has speeded up considerably, and there is growing pressure to increase throughput on the factory floor. However, many companies find online press brake programming is causing quite a bottleneck.”
