Tecplot, Inc. launches Tecplot RS 2009 Release 2

New quantitative history match analysis helps determine model accuracy faster

BELLEVUE, WA — Tecplot, Inc. today announced the general availability of Tecplot RS 2009 Release 2 (R2), the company’s reservoir simulation visualization and analysis tool for oil and gas reservoir modeling.

The new upgrade offers history match analysis capabilities that can automatically determine and display match factors for multiple simulation runs. This helps users assess the accuracy of their reservoir model and complete the history match process more quickly. It ultimately gives oil companies more confidence in the decisions they make about the development of their oil reservoirs.

“History matching is often a subjective and qualitative process,” said Don Roberts, vice president, Tecplot, Inc., and product manager for Tecplot RS. “The new history match factor provides quantitative results and helps you determine the quality of a reservoir model faster.”

The visualization features in Tecplot RS make it possible for users to easily display match factor results for multiple simulation runs in a single plot.

“We’re basically combining quantitative results and visual data analysis into a single, easy-to-view snapshot,” said Roberts. “That’s a powerful tool for identifying the valid models.”

Other new capabilities in the R2 version of Tecplot RS 2009 include the ability to load and display inactive cells in grid plots. In addition, axis controls allow users to specify the spacing of major and minor markers for the axes of XY plots on a per-variable basis. Tecplot RS stores these settings automatically for each variable, making them persistent and available whenever a variable is assigned to a plot axis.
Platforms and pricing

Tecplot RS 2009 R2 supports Windows XP/Vista (32- and 64-bit) and Linux (32- and 64-bit). Pricing starts at $6,000 in the U.S. for a single-user perpetual license. Existing Tecplot RS 2009 users with current SMS agreements can upgrade to the 2009 R2 version at no cost. Special pricing is available for qualified academic users upon request.
