Siemens PLM Software has announced the latest release of its Teamcenter Mobility™ mobile device application (app), with enhancements that significantly enrich the end user’s ability to participate in the PLM process from the Apple Inc. iPad® portable digital device. In addition to instantly accessing the existing product knowledge managed using Teamcenter® software from any WiFi or mobile broadband-available location, Teamcenter Mobility 2.0 provides individuals with the ability to capture and contribute additional knowledge, browse product structures and initiate workflow processes.
“As the global manufacturing industry continues to grow and evolve, companies need to effectively empower their entire workforce in order to remain competitive,” said Chuck Grindstaff, president and chief technology officer, Siemens PLM Software. “The Teamcenter Mobility app puts the power of Teamcenter into the hands of mobile workers, with new capabilities in the latest release that will have a significant impact on how those individuals can interact with PLM data. With Teamcenter Mobility 2.0, users aren’t just consumers of product information, but they also play an active role in creating that product information. They can capture data and knowledge, from anywhere, and more fully participate in their company’s product development process.”
Teamcenter, the world’s most widely used digital lifecycle management solution, continues to serve as the preferred PLM system for manufacturing companies throughout the world. Earlier this year, Siemens PLM Software announced Teamcenter Mobility to address the growing need for these companies to instantly and securely deliver data managed by Teamcenter to more, and often unconventional, locations via wireless mobile devices. As the adoption and usage of mobile solutions continues to accelerate, companies are requiring richer and broader functionality from their mobile apps.
Teamcenter Mobility 2.0 addresses this need by allowing mobile users to not only access data in Teamcenter, but to also submit new product data into Teamcenter, regardless of their location. In addition to enabling the user to check information into Teamcenter, Teamcenter Mobility allows a user to initiate workflows. Also, Teamcenter Mobility 2.0 now supports markup, allowing users to annotate a document or image to communicate specific issues or instructions.
The Teamcenter Mobility 2.0 enhancements address the needs of a variety of mobile workers such as executives, shop floor supervisors, or field maintenance personnel who need to capture, document, and address product-related issues while away from their standard location. As a result, decision makers can capture and communicate information when and where it happens; allowing them to react with even greater speed to the rapidly changing environments associated with all product lifecycle disciplines such as design, manufacturing and maintenance.
Teamcenter Mobility 2.0 is available immediately.
