3D Design Software Company Recognized for Economic Impact and Employment Leadership in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
WALTHAM, Mass - Autodesk, Inc announced that the company has been named a Bronze Winner (“Greater Boston”) by the Massachusetts Alliance for Economic Development (MassEcon). The award recognizes Autodesk’s leadership and outstanding contributions to the Massachusetts economy. Winners were selected based on factors including job growth, facility expansion, investment and community involvement. Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick recognized all MassEcon award winners on November 23, 2010 at the seventh annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards luncheon in Boston.
Headquartered on Trapelo Road in Waltham, Mass., Autodesk’s architecture, engineering and construction (AEC Solutions) division creates software that helps building professionals – from architects to engineers, designers and builders – to improve productivity, deliver innovative design ideas and manage change throughout the complete lifecycle of a construction project. The Autodesk AEC headquarters facility currently houses 200 employees, and can accommodate up to 350 staff. Autodesk leased the existing 65,000-square-foot speculative building and conducted a complete retrofit of the interior, resulting in a LEED-CI-Platinum-certified building. Demonstrating its commitment to Massachusetts, Autodesk also mandated the use of local vendors to complete the project. Construction was finalized in 2009 and also includes a LEED-Gold-certified exterior shell and ENERGY STAR-rated equipment.
“Autodesk consistently strives to support its users through software solutions that help maximize productivity, provide competitive advantages and foster healthy, sustainable communities,” said Jay Bhatt, senior vice president of Autodesk’s AEC Solutions division. “We are honored to be recognized by MassEcon for these efforts, together with our economic commitment to, and community involvement within, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The strength of the local business community, and superior technological expertise, has made this area an ideal place for our Autodesk team to develop, and to maintain a strong and influential presence.”
Autodesk’s Manchester, N.H. location was also named the #1 Best Large Company to Work For in 2010 by Business NH Magazine and NH Businesses for Social Responsibility in recognition of its company culture, communication, employee development strategies and workplace philosophy. This is the 14th year Business NH Magazine has held the competition. Winners of New Hampshire’s Best Companies to Work For awards are also profiled in the December 2010 issue of Business NH Magazine.
